{"id":7426,"date":"2018-03-26T12:36:21","date_gmt":"2018-03-26T10:36:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mojacar.es\/en\/?p=7426"},"modified":"2018-03-26T12:36:21","modified_gmt":"2018-03-26T10:36:21","slug":"mojacar-begins-semana-santa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/devmojacar.talleragencia.com\/en\/mojacar-begins-semana-santa\/","title":{"rendered":"Moj\u00e1car begins Semana Santa religious ceremonies."},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><p>The religious events that traditionally take place in Moj\u00e1car over Semana Santa (Holy Week), started last week with the traditional Novena Prayers at the Town\u2019s Santa Maria Parish Church.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>On Palm Sunday, the Procession of the Donkey made its way from the Fuente to the Church, accompanied by the Municipal Band, for the blessing of the Palms and Olives, as well as a Holy Mass.<br \/>\nOn Monday 26th of March, at 9 p.m. there will be a concert of Sacred Music performed by the Town Band along with the local \u201cEmbrujo Mojaquero\u201d choir at the Centro de Usos Multiples.<br \/>\nThe following day, on Tuesday at 8 p.m. the Stations of the Cross is taken through the streets of Moj\u00e1car Pueblo, carried solely on the shoulders of women bearers.<br \/>\nOn Holy Thursday, at 7.30 p.m. there is another mass to celebrate the Last Supper and the Washing of the Feet, followed by the procession from the Church through the streets at 10.30 p.m. with The Nazarene and The Virgin of Sorrows.<br \/>\nThe beautiful ornate floats or thrones (tronos) with their sculpted images (pasos) have had to be adapted to suit the special characteristics of the locality and the narrow, winding streets which make its passage especially spectacular.
